2011 KCA Annual Meeting and Banquet

Celebrate our 2011 racing season at the KCA Annual Banquet!

Please plan to attend the 2011 KCA Annual Banquet Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 6:00 p.m.  The event will be held at Maceli’s, 1031 New Hampshire, Lawrence, Kansas  66044.   Our Annual Banquet is a great opportunity to socialize with our racing community, celebrate our 2011 racing season, and learn more about the KCA.

The evening will include a cash bar opening at 6:00 p.m., Italian buffet dinner served at 6:30 p.m., and recognition of KBAR, KBCXR, KBAT and KBCXT winners.

A KCA business meeting will be held prior to the Banquet at Maceli’s starting at 5:00 p.m.  This meeting is open to all interested parties.  The meeting will include a presentation by our USAC Regional Coordinator George Heagerty and election of directors to the KCA Board.  Please contact Sherri Hahn at shahnsj@aol.com if you are interested in serving on the KCA Board.

The Buffet Dinner includes Chicken Parmesan, Vegetarian Lasagna, Caesar Salad, Bread sticks and Dessert.  Cost of the dinner is $14.00 per person.

To highlight the importance of our state cyclocross championship race, the KCA Board has decided to amend the KBCXR/KBCXT rules and award a 1.5 times point multiplier for the Kansas State Cycloross Championship Race. Updated 2011-2012 KBCXR/KBCXT rules can be found here.  The races included in the KBCXR/KBCXT series are denoted on the 2011 Kansas Race Schedule.  Promoters interested in their CX race being part of the KBCXR/KBCXT series should contact Steve Songer (ssonger@celgene.com).

Based on rider feedback after release of the new KBCXR/KBCXT competition rules, the KCA Board has decided to add a singlespeed category to the KBCXR competition.  Updated 2011-2012 KBCXR/KBCXT rules can be found here.  Promoters interested in their CX race being part of the KBCXR/KBCXT series should contact Steve Songer (ssonger@celgene.com).

The KCA Board is pleased to announce the 2011 State Championships. State Championships are KBAR/KBAT races with double points awarded.

Age and Category Time Trials – Saturday, June 18 Walnut – Presented by Tailwind Cyclists and PSU Cycling

Age Road Race – Saturday, June 25 Olsburg – Presented by Lanterne Rouge Racing Team and Tallgrass Cycling Club

Category and Age Criteriums – Saturday August 6 – Pittsburg – Presented by Tailwind Cyclists and PSU Cycling

Category Road Race – Sunday August 7 – Arma – Presented by Tailwind Cyclists and PSU Cycling

Bids to promote the state cyclocross championships are due the KCA by June 1, 2011.

The KCA 2011 Kansas Best All-Around Rider (KBAR) & Kansas Best All-Around Team (KBAT) rules and 2011 KBAR/KBAT Race Schedule is now available. Go to the KBAR/KBAT page to view the 2011 rules and race schedule.

The 2011 KBAR/KBAT rules remain relatively unchanged compared with the 2010 KBAR/KBAT rules. One major change is in the Men’s Masters categories. This year we will award KBAR winners in Men’s Masters 30+, 40+, 50+, and 60+.

Congratulations to all 2010 KBAR winners who received their KBAR jerseys at the KCA Annual Meeting. As an additional added perk of winning the KBAR, all 2010 KBAR winners will receive FREE entry to ALL 2011 KBAR races!

Message from Jim Whittaker, Promoter of Spring Fling Crit Series:

Everything went well today at Clinton lake. There will be low traffic there and the cabins aren’t rented for this weekend. They have one rental for all of March.

In the past I’ve found that motels were booked in the spring for races. Cyclists racing the Saturday fling and Sunday dam series should rent these cabins.

They are new, they sleep 6 and have a kitchen. And it’s on a race course and close to the Perry series. http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/State-Parks/Locations/Clinton/Cabins

If they build 5 more for 2012 renting them to cyclists will really be helpful.

Spread the word please, especially to our Wichita friends.
