Attached is a listing of our recent racer upgrades!
With the exciting start of the racing year, the KCA shares the attached primer to your first bicycle race. We hope the primer will help you have a positive experience and we will see you at many races!
From USA Cycling
We are very excited to introduce the women’s category 5 racing membership for cyclocross, road, and track events this year.
As you probably already know, in addition to cat 5 being assigned to all new female members, we are also allowing current cat 4 women to downgrade to the new cat 5 if they choose.
Assigning cat 5 to brand new members has been no problem, but due to being in the middle of a major IT migration, our system is currently experiencing an inability to process the cat 4 to 5 downgrades.
What does this mean for you?
If there are Cat 4 women who wish to race in a dedicated Cat 5 field, please allow them to do so even though their licenses may currently say Cat 4. Also, we have received a number of questions regarding running a combined Cat 4/5 field for the women. While having a true beginners field for new women is desirable, combining the 4s and the 5s might be a better solution for your race depending on the racing population in your area.
I would like to thank Bill Keen and Matt Wilson of Keen Wealth Advisors for donating $2,500 which we will continue to use to support Junior racers in cycling.
Just a reminder that membership sales and renewals for USA Cycling are now open.
A portion of your membership purchase goes towards supporting your local association, allowing us to continue our efforts in the local cycling community, growing great grassroots events, providing networking for fellow local riders, and supporting clubs in the area.
As part of the improvements USA Cycling is working on, they’ve launched 2017 membership purchases as the first phase of their new technology platform.
Check out this how-to guide for easy instructions on how to use the new platform. If you’ve had a USA Cycling account in the past, it’s as easy as clicking the register now button and logging in with your email address and existing USA Cycling password. Still need a hand? Give USA Cycling a call at (719) 434-4200 or send an email to MembershipMail@usacycling.org and they’ll be happy help you out.
The first Cookie Cross Series ended at The Fast and The Furriest Cyclocross Race. Final series standings are at http://kscycling.org/results/. Congratulations to all Cookie Cross participants! Thank you to Dr. Melissa Kusiak of Family Dental Co. for sponsoring Cookie Cross.
Just wanted to let everyone know that at the 360 Cup race USADA was present and performed random drug testing on six participants.
This is part of USAC’s RaceClean program where Local Associations submit races from each region to be placed in a pool for them to choose from. 360 Cup was one of the CX races we submitted for them to consider.
I want to thank the 360 Team for being equipped to handle the testing on top of everything else they were doing yesterday to put on a great event!
Here is a link from USA Cycling on information regarding the RaceClean program
Please submit to me by December 19 a request if you would like for your race to be considered for State Championship and/or KBAR.
My goal is we get this finalized by early January so we can announce at the banquet this year. Attached is a calendar of the 2017 races we currently are aware of.
